Alberta Snowmobile Association
The history of motorized snow vehicles traces back to the early 1900s, with notable development in the mid-30s and widespread popularity in the 60s and 70s. Alberta, home to around 140,000 snowmobiles, sees the activity as a family-oriented sport. Since 1971, the volunteer-operated Alberta Snowmobile Association (ASA) has played a crucial role, with office staffing added in 1981. The association collaborates with local clubs, formed through volunteer efforts, to manage trails and address safety concerns. This volunteer-centric model has proven highly effective, contributing to Alberta’s extensive network of over 6,500 kilometers of trails, showcasing the dedication and hard work of ASA Club volunteers.
